About Us
We are a family run six acre Protea farm on the slopes of Mauna Loa at the 3600 feet level where the days are sunny and the nights cool. Protea are seasonal and we usually have only a limited supply during the summer. Protea is available from August till May normally with limited production during the summer months when they start growing for the winter season.
Frank my husband was born in Houston, Texas. I was born in Glasgow, Scotland.
I know what your thinking, and no, Frank is not in the Military. But he is a Sailor.
When we met he wanted us to move to the big Island of Hawaii and become farmers. I didn?t want to do it!!! Leave Scotland and go half way round the world ?.
Well long story short we lived in Texas for a few years then job opportunities opened up for both of us in Hawaii and we made the move to Oahu. Still wanting to live on the Big island Frank kept looking out for a small farm. On one of our visits we looked at a protea farm, this one. I had never seen a protea in my life and thought they were the most awesome flowers I had ever seen they are all so different we were both hooked and had to buy the farm. Believe it or not we have not had to many complaints from our three teenage daughters for moving them to this rural way of life.
